Celah K. Pence is a graduate of James Madison University with a Masters Degree in Composition. She is a past director of the Preparatory Choir of the Shenandoah Valley Children's Choir and has composed pieces for the SVCC and other school and church choirs.
With Happy Voices Singing was premiered in 1999, and How Can I Keep From Singing was first sung at the National Kodaly Educators Conference in Williamsburg, Virginia in 2001. Turtle Dove was written for the Preparatory Choir of the Shenandoah Children's Choir and was most recently performed at the New Orleans All-City Children's Choir Festival in 2008.
Her arrangement of Abide With Me, available soon from Beatin' Path Publications, was commissioned and sung by the SVCC for the 2007 performance at James Madison University Mahatma Gandhi Center's presentation of the Global Nonviolence Award to the Most Reverend Desmond M. Tutu.
